In order to create a business membership, you need a company e-mail account. You can create a business registration with the confirmation code sent to your company e-mail account.
Only approved company accounts can reply to comments, you can do this from the management panel with your company account. Users cannot reply to comments made on company comments.
MEDS provides a system to store case files, images of documents and reports, templates, messages and personal files. Each user is assigned a role and given permissions for access to the different aspects of the system (see IRM 7.22.4.7, Roles and Delegations).
MEDS uses status and sub-status codes to monitor EO determination case inventory and transmits those changes to EDS. MEDS also stores case data in the Document Repository.
The MEDS Case Status Report shows a list of the cases you are assigned to review or work on. It is a convenient way to monitor case assignments and to determine which files you need to retrieve.
After Campus Support scans documents and verifies images and data, MEDS runs business rules to determine: classification of the case, category, grade of the case, user fee status, whether or not an acknowledgment letter is sent to a power of attorney, and other information. These changes are reflected in the CCR and BRE results folders.
The Case Chronology Record (CCR) lists both system and manually entered entries on a case. The CCR includes time charged to a case and a variety of searchable fields. If an incorrect entry is made, the specialist must correct it. The CCR also contains the LINUS Case Indicator and EDS Block indicator.
MRC’s expert legal nurse consultants prepare comprehensive medical chronologies, outlining significant medical events that support named allegations or highlight areas of possible liability. Medical chronology reports are compiled in chronological order to make it easy for attorneys, medical specialists, and other staff to review evidence without wasting valuable time searching through multiple pages of documents.
The case history record reflects all information related to the determination case file and can be searched by the case number, EO-yyyynnnn-nnnn, or by name. The case history record updates automatically when MEDS changes the status of a case to either Status 63 or 52AD.
The case information and Receipt and Handling tabs contain important EO determination file information, such as the date of the postmark on the envelope or letter containing the application.
MEDS query and search functions make it easier to locate a particular case or power of attorney or conduct general research. Users can perform a simple query by entering a MEDS case number (EO-yyyynnnn-nnnnnn) in the Search box found at the top of any web page or an advanced search by using one or more properties and selecting the relationship between the property and the search value (for example, "=", "or", and "includes"). Advanced searches can be saved for future use by checking the Save Search box on the Advance Search screen. If a search produces a large number of cases, checking the Show Result Count only button returns a case count instead of a full list of results.
The case folders are the locations where MEDS stores files and other data. These folders are accessed by clicking the blue "i" icon for the case or highlighting the case and selecting Properties from the menu bar.
Clicking the Case Folders tab displays all cases that the applicant has submitted and/or prepared/imported. The folders are organized by applicant name/EIN. The folders also display the EDS Block Indicator, EO Closing Data and Potential Duplicate Flag.
Authorized users can edit the case information on the General Case Information and EO Closing Data tabs. They can also edit the BRE Results (if applicable) and clear follow-up dates for AI sub-statuses or corrections to entry information. When editing an entry, the system saves the original edit date and time.
Documents in MEDS can be edited or printed on the computer and may be saved to a local hard drive. MEDS also enables you to make a desktop shortcut to the document view page.
MEDS users can use the Optical Character Recognition (OCR) function to search documents for words and phrases. OCR translates handwritten or typed scanned documents into text the computer can understand.
When you check out a document, a small key displays to the left of the document name(s). When you return to MEDS and click Documents, the list of checked out documents display at the bottom of the screen. To restore the checked out documents, click File then Check In or right click on a document. Documents may also be moved from the MEDS case to a Non-Disclosable or Purge folder.
